Adaptive Dance
The Adaptive Dance program is designed for students ages 5−22 to create a class environment that is sensitive to the needs of students with diverse cognitive, physical and developmental needs while nurturing their self-expression and developing their movement, social, and rhythmic skills. Ages for each level are recommendations; each student will be evaluated for final placement.
Schedule
Adaptive Dance Runs for two 10 week and one 5 week session. Please see upcoming session dates below:
Fall: September 12-December 11
Spring: January 30-April 10
Summer: June 12-July 10

AD 1 (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.
Class time: 9:00 am-9:45 am
Instructor: Sophia Sing
Recommended ages:5-8 years old
Tuition: $115.00
Focuses on the basics of controlled and coordinated movement – developing balance, coordination, stamina, and focus. Class focus is on skill-building and stamina.
If your dancer is registered in AD 1, parent or guardian participation is mandatory at all classes. This ensures the best possible experience for your dancer throughout the session. If a parent or guardian is unable to participate, your dancer will not be able to attend class that day. All participating caretakers must be at least 18 years old.
AD 2 (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.
Class time: 10:00 am-10:45 am
Instructor: Sophia Sing
Recommended ages: 9-12 years old
Tuition: $115.00
Builds on the concepts taught in AD 1 and incorporates more complex sequencing, longer dance periods, more traditional classical movements, and requires a higher amount of self-control. Caregiver attendance is to be determined at the discretion of the instructor. Class focus is on skill-building, technique mastery, and stamina.
AD 3 (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.
Class time:11:00am-11:45am
Instructor: Sophia Sing
Recommended ages: 13-16 years old
Tuition: $115.00

Adaptive Classical (60 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)

About Sophia Sing
Sophia was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, training with Rena Backer and Nina Marlow at the Rena Backer School of ballet, where she taught and performed for many years before graduating in 2020. She attended summer intensives with Ajkun Ballet Theatre, where she was invited to perform with the company as a bridesmaid in Don Quixote and the Passion Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. She trained as an intern with State Street Ballet, returning to Phoenix afterwards to dance with Convergence Ballet for 2 seasons while earning her degree in Child Development from Arizona State University. Sophia has significant experience in teaching children across dozens of situations and 3 continents, and currently incorporates her degree heavily into her teaching style across the valley.
