20 Questions with Ib Andersen

As you may or may not have heard, Ballet Arizona’s 2019-2020 season marks 20 years of Artistic Director, Ib Andersen’s leadership and wonderful creativity. In order to learn a little more about him, we asked Ib 20 rapid-fire questions, enjoy!

What is your favorite role you performed? Apollo.

What is a role you wish you had danced? Petrushka.

What is your favorite food? Fish.

What is your least favorite food? Velveeta.

What is your drink of choice? Martini.

What is your favorite country to visit? Italy.

Who is your favorite composer? Sergei Prokofiev.

Who is the most overrated composer? Sergei Prokofiev.

Who is your favorite artist? Cy Twombly.

What is your best hidden talent? I cook.

What is your favorite movie? 2001.

What is your favorite book? I don’t read…

What is your favorite restaurant in Arizona? Tarbell’s.

What is your favorite museum? Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

What is the hardest ballet to dance? Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring.)

What is the hardest ballet to choreograph? All of them.

Who was your favorite partner? Hmm… I don’t know, I can’t choose.

What is your favorite Balanchine ballet? Apollo… at least that I danced in.

If you could dance with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Anna Pavlova.

What is your favorite spot in Arizona? My backyard.
