You have taught me how powerful one person can be. Your contributions inspire our artistic vision and help support Ballet Arizona financially. However, the gift of your time, voice and passion are equally important.
The personal is political. Personal choices and experiences do not happen in a vacuum. They are shaped by the political and social environment in which they live. Additionally, they shape the narrative of future discussions, analysis, and actions.
Breathing life into original choreography requires a gift of artistry, vision and execution, all within the realm of infinite patience. No one does this better than our Artistic Director Ib Andersen!
From the moment you walked into the lobby, you could feel the energy in the room. Friends, old and new, mingled with Company dancers who were excited to enjoy an evening wearing gowns and jackets instead of pointe shoes and tights.
What a great evening we had on January 27. It was a fun and information packed night to thank Prima Circle members for their generosity and support of Ballet Arizona. It was the perfect mix of learning more about the art form we adore, a delicious dinner, mingling with dancers, and watching a rehearsal of Romeo and Juliet.
What I have learned in my six month tenure as Executive Director is that it only takes one person to inspire us all. Any gift of any size can be truly transformational. One Angel Night gift of $30, one brand new Corps de Ballet donor, and one extraordinary woman who single-handedly changed the organization with her everlasting legacy.
“Ballet Arizona provides vignettes that help enhance and deepen our understanding of the emotions and physicality of this art form. We never tire of learning more.” – Mary and David Patino
The School of Ballet Arizona is proud of its partnership with Arizonans for Children and we are happy to support their Arizonans for Children’s Dance program. Since 2013, one of our seven studios is reserved every Saturday specifically for this class.
In September, Ballet Arizona launched a six-week Creative Aging ballet workshop in partnership with Benevilla Senior Day Care Services. This pilot program offers curriculum that welcomes seniors as active participants in the dance community through Arizona’s premiere ballet company.
Your support of the New Works Initiative is crucial to the development of our dancers through classical and modern productions, adding a diverse element to both the selection of each season’s productions as well as their performance locations.
